Anna Sui for Target

anna-sui

I am not as excited about the Anna Sui for Target collection as I am about Rodarte’s…But I still think it’s awesome that big designers collaborate with affordable stores (especially Target and H&M), to make fashion more attainable to the masses. I don’t watch Gossip Girl (blasphemy, I know), so I can’t really tell which look corresponds to which character, but it doesn’t really matter, since I love lookbooks mainly for their inspirational value. My favorite looks from this collection are the boho orange-brown ones (above). Time to dust off my old orange H&M dress. Paired with brown fringe boots and a furry vest, it will be hippie heaven!

Anna Sui for Target launches September 13th, and will sell through October 17th. Will you be buying anything from this collection?

Fur For Fall?

IsabelMarantMillaJovovich

It seems that fur is going to be everywhere this fall! I wouldn’t buy the real thing, but would definitely consider faux. Already bought a faux fur knitted vest from H&M, and still thinking about a jacket (there are a few cute ones at Zara).

Not surprisingly, fur is also in Isabel Marant’s Fall 2009 ads featuring Milla Jovovich. Milla seems to be doing well, starring in the Perfect Getaway, newly married, and now in Marant’s campaign. Busy girl!

Anyway, back to fur…love the jacket below. Just hope it isn’t real!

Mary-Kate and Ashley in Toronto

olsens toronto

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were in Toronto this week to promote their Elizabeth and James Fall 2009 Collection at Holt Renfrew and Much Music. Would’ve been cool to see them in person! Love that they don’t seem to care about the mainstream criticism towards their clothing choices and just keep doing their thing. Have you picked up the latest Marie Claire issue? Ashley’s interview is an insightful read, but wish it was a bit longer.

Have you checked out their Fall collection yet?

Travel: Paris Window Shopping

chanel

I have to admit that despite my looove for clothes, I am not a big shopper during my travels. The last 3 summers in Paris I bought…a silk handmade scarf for my mom, Louis Vuitton coin purse and a speedy strap, an Eiffel Tower keychain, and a bunch of vintage poster reproductions…all mementos of my stay in my favorite city in the whole entire world (well…almost). So these pics are from this summer…practically the only stores I visited on my trip. Sad, I know.

Chanel…no explanation necessary, right? It’s a Parisian must-see. Enough said. LV…we were in it mainly for the free champagne…and The Kooples? If you’re in Paris, absolutely check it out! Loved everything in the store! Wish we had it here in Toronto. Clothes that look like you could share them with your boyfriend, in soft and touchable fabrics. Amazingness!

Love, love, love it! Menswear and Annie Hall inspired looks from this month’s Vogue Paris spread are perfection! Love it all! Wish I could pull it off without looking…well, like a man. Sigh. Organic Style: Charlyn and Crisell

bayst

I love the way Charlyn and Crisell are wearing their cutoffs! It sort of says “this summer sucks, but I will still wear shorts, gdammit!”…Both girls are wearing them in sort of a transitional way. Totally wearable for Fall if paired with tights! Love the layering, looooove the laced up ankle boots, and once again love the accessories. And in case you were wondering, turquoise is still my favorite rock! Yes, indeedy!

Love your style, girls! Cute and quirky and fun!

Wednesday Candy: Gabriel Aubry

aubry2

This week’s Wednesday Candy is Gabriel Aubry. The guy is undeniably hot (he’s a model after all), but is also a doting father and a (seemingly) loving partner of the equally good-looking Halle Berry. They make such an adorable family, no? Their daughter Nahla is definitely blessed with an amazing gene pool. Lucky girl!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Kate Moss for Topshop Fall 2009

kate-moss-topshop3

It’s news like these that make me wish that I was still living in the States! Or at least that we had Topshop in Toronto, or at the very least, that they shipped here. It really bugs me, that so many stores don’t ship to Canada (and when they do, it costs an arm and a leg…I am looking at you Urban Outfitters!)…

But since nothing can be done to fix that…at least not in the near future, and since I am not foreseeing an NYC trip any time soon…these pics will have to do.

Topshop has released a new batch of pictures for Kate Moss’ Fall 2009 collection and it is looking fantastic! I want almost everything! The shoot was really well styled, the clothes are beautiful, and Moss…well, she’s still got it! Do you love it or do you love it?

Topshop people, if you can hear me…open a store in Toronto! ASAP!

Organic Style: Joseph

joe

I think guys don’t get enough credit for dressing well! Considering that so many of them here, in North America, look like they pick up whatever is lying on their bedroom floor in the morning and then pile it on randomly, those with style should definitely be rewarded for their smart choices! Like guys in Europe. Guys in Europe are perfection! They dress…effortlessly, yet grown up (post on Euro style is coming soon, I promise!). And to me, Joseph here is the very embodiment of European style in his navy blue suit, pocket square and all. Perfect fit, great accessories, and a mega-watt smile…all that’s missing is a Vespa. Guys, take notice!

Shoes, shoes, and more shoes!

deena and ozzy cage heel
I am looking for a transitional pair of black heels. Something versatile that I could wear with my skinny jeans, but also to the office, during those early Fall days. But also, something different…I don’t want yet another pair of peep toe pumps (I got a bajillion already!)

So far I love the Deena and Ozzy line at Urban Outfitters! Inexpensive and so very chic! These are my faves. Now, if only I could narrow it down to one pair!

Gisele’s Bump

gisele

So London Fog’s Chief Marketing Officer explained the company’s decision to Photoshop Gisele Bundchen’s “visible” baby bump in their latest campaign, by saying: “Although Gisele was photographed while pregnant, most of the shots have been retouched to respect her privacy during this wonderful and personal time in her life.” How wonderful of them to respect her privacy by releasing a statement about her pregnancy to the whole world, before she’s even confirmed it herself!

And in my opinion, the bump isn’t even that obvious pre-Photoshop. Thoughts?

Gems of Italian Cinema

cinematheque

I guess it’s a little too late to let you guys know about the “Signore and Signore: Leading Ladies of the Italian Cinema” event happening at the Cinematheque Ontario, since it ends today. Boohoo! I am sure those of you that love Italian cinema have already heard all about it and have gone, and those that haven’t…well, you should definitely check it out next time!

I grew up watching a lot of foreign films, and even though Soviet films will always have a special place in my heart (Devchata, Bril’yantovaya Ruka, Operaciya I, etc), Italian films from the 50s and 60s are one of my all time favorites! I think it’s the combination of great stories, amazing actors, sharp fashions, and the language! Plus Marcello Mastroianni’s good looks don’t hurt either!

devchata

I am re-watching an old-time favorite “Nights of Cabiria” tonight! Cannot wait! Am super disappointed that Cinematheque Ontario did not include “Marriage Italian Style” in their lineup. Sofia Loren is the leading lady of Italian Cinema, and yet this comedic masterpiece by De Sica was grossly overlooked this time around (she is both hilarious and heartbreaking as the main character Filumena). Considering that Loren’s name is the first one that pops into anyone’s head, it’s a little surprising that they only included one movie featuring the actress. Hopefully they’ll include ”Marriage Italian Style” next time, because this movie is all sorts of amazing!
