Rad by Rad

rad-rad-hourani-1

Oh my! I am not supposed to be coveting awesome fall pieces just yet! Instead, I should be enjoying summer styles, lack of jackets, lack of layers, etc…But how can I not think about Fall when lookbooks such as Rad by Rad Hourani come out!

rad-rad-hourani-2

Don’t you just love the draping and the slashing? Very tough-grungy-top model chic! The collection for Hourani’s secondary line is cheaper and ranges from $100 to $400. Added bonus is that all pieces are unisex, so if you want to share jeans/jacket/whatever with your boyfriend/husband/best male friend, you can! Obviously only if they are the same size as you! Collection will be available sometime in November here and here. Do you love it or do you love it?

One Month of Diane’s Style

diane-kruger

Diane Kruger is one of my favorites! Not necessarily as an actress (haven’t seen her in anything other than Troy), but definitely as a style inspiration! A while ago, Diane has shared that she doesn’t work with a stylist, yet she always looks flawless on the red carpet and in real life (unlike some starlets that do have stylists and a ton of money and still manage to look like leftovers on the side of the road). And to prove this, here’s a few of Diane’s outfits over the course of the month of July 2009 at Berlin Fashion Week, the “Inglourious Basterds” premiere and photocall, at the airport in Berlin, and just out and about. Beautiful, no?

Chloe Sevigny For Opening Ceremony

chloe opening ceremony

Don’t you just love it? Her outfit is perfection! I am sure Chloe wore that dress on purpose…it’s practically nude! Not bland, but just “blah” enough to keep all of your attention on the shoes! Designed by Chloe herself for Opening Ceremony, they would be perfect summer/fall/spring booties…Can’t you just imagine rocking these with skinny jeans, mini skirts, shorts…so many possibilities!  From studs to multi-buckles to exposed zippers – tough love is a huge trend for fall 2009 and I love it!

What I’m Wearing: Twin Dressing

jo and i

What I’d like to know is how often does this happen to you??? Because it happens to Jo and I all the time! I mean, a lot! If you’re thinking whether this was intentional – no it wasn’t. I mean who decides to wear a bright orange dress to work??? We do! On any given day, chances are, Jo and I will at least have the same earrings, similar belt, or the exact same outfit. Sometimes we even decide to do silly things to our makeup on the same day (blue mascara on a casual Friday)! I can think of at least 5 instances or us wearing nearly identical outfits…It’s not that weird if you take into account the fact that we shop at mostly same stores, and have a similar style. But this often? It’s starting to freak me out! I’ll try to take pics of all the items that we wear that are similar or the same and keep track of our twin dressing here.

So tell me, do you and your friends dress alike?

DKNY Jeans Fall 2009

hilary-duff-femme-01

What do you think about the newly released DKNY Jeans Fall 2009 ads? They were shot by Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) in his signature street photography style. The Femme Fall line was designed by Hilary Duff. Why? Because every singer is a designer, and every actress is a designer too. It’s that easy, didn’t you know?

I don’t particularly like Hilary’s style, but the campaign does not leave me cringing (except for white pumps with leggings…eek). Maybe it’s the photographs, or the styling by Tabitha Simmons, or maybe it just isn’t bad. Kinda makes me crave Fall clothing now…and the summer hasn’t even started yet! How messed up is that?

Twist by Forever 21

twist4

Today is the launch of Cirque 21 collection from Forever 21′s new in-house designed line TWIST! I wonder how good this new collection is. The lookbook is definitely cute, but really does not look all that special and kinda reminds me of other Forever 21 items they have in stores already. The only item that I think of getting is the Miu Miu inspired dress (above). Other than that, will have to wait and see.

The Beautiful Clothes

beautiful life

Hmm, judging by the photo above, the new CW series The Beautiful Life is looking quite promising in the style department. Wouldn’t you love to dress like this to work?! The plot doesn’t sound too bad either…yet am still having some doubts about the show, since that train wreck Mischa Barton is slated to be a part of this. Could this be her big comeback or would she just end up being a series poison? I wonder. Apart from the drama, definitely looking forward to the beautiful clothes! Series premieres September 16th.

Organic Style: Weddings

It’s summertime (even if it doesn’t feel like it), and summertime means summer weddings! And what does it mean to be invited to a wedding? That’s right! Outfit searching!

The wedding that I attended this past Saturday was beautiful! Gorgeous bride, handsome groom, lotsa food, dancing, performances, tearful speeches, and many well dressed people! Like I mean, adorable dresses! It was nice to see that a wedding outfit does not have to equal predictable or stuffy, or regal (unless you’re into it), especially for young girls like me (no eye rolling, please!). So today, I’d like to introduce you to these 4 stylish girls in awesome, cute, youthful, modern and not at all stuffy dresses that they wore to Mr. and Mrs. Pante’s reception.

First up is Janice. The moment I saw her ruffled off the shoulder, cut-out dress in the amazing silver grey color, I loved it! It’s not your typical wedding-wear, but that’s what’s so great about it! Modern cut, lotsa leg, gorgeous girl!

janice

Tamara and I sat at the same table, and I couldn’t stop staring at her amazing jewelry! Turquoise is my weakness! Love her graphic gown. I think the pattern saves the dress from looking overly formal, and in my humble opinion, black + white + turquoise = amazingness!

tamara

The beautiful ring on Tamara’s hand is from Spain! Me encanta!

tamara detail

My next “victim” is Reena. What really caught my eye in her outfit is the simplicity of both color and cut. To me that’s the beauty of it. I love the sheen of her dress, and the way she paired it with gladiator sandals. Again, very youthful. Very fab!

reena

And last, but not least is Leah. My favorite part about her dress are the sequins. So much fun! And since the picture isn’t that good, you should know that the sequins go along the neckline, the sides of the dress, and at the hem. To me, they make the otherwise boring-ish dress look modern and…yeah, fun! After seeing her dress, I kinda regretted not wearing my sequined bolero over my lacey dress. Oh well…next time! Great dress, Leah!

ESSENSITY And The City

essensity4

The other day, I was very lucky to have been invited to a preview event for Schwarzkopf’s new organic-based hairproduct line ESSENSITY. I was pampered, had my hair washed and styled, got a goodie bag full of customized hair/makeup products from Schwarzkopf and Yves Rocher, coupons  for haircolour, a little makeover and a photoshoot. All free! Sounds amazing? Well it was! And luckily for you and your girlfriends, this event will be available to the rest of the gals in Toronto, starting August 10th! All you have to do is make an appointment here! You even get to pick your preferred salon location! If that’s not awesome, then I don’t know what is!

And this is not all, once you make this FREE appointment for yourself and your BFF, you will automatically be entered into the ESSENSITY contest! The grand prize is ESSENSITY colour, cut and style, followed by a luxury limo service to an exquisite  fine dinner experience for you and 3 of your girlfriends!!! It also includes grand ESSENSITY gift bags and more. And judging by the regular gift bags, the grand ones are promising to be fabulous!

I loved the way my hair felt after the treatment, now you can judge it for yourself!

There are 5 salons in the city that are participating in the ESSENSITY promotion, running August through October:

Solo Bace 416-962-4250 (stylist Judy was amazing!)

Afif Salon Hair and Beauty 416-488-2161

Vandertol Salon and Spa 416-440-0572

SALE at Locher’s Paris

spank me

Ever since I first laid my eyes on Locher’s website, I was in love! Designer Nicole Locher handcrafts unique clothes and accessories with a vintage flare, and oh-so very naughty messages. The basic concept behind her collection is “perversion with a touch of class”. It’s definitely something that most would not dare show their parents…But anyone with a sense of humor would love Nicole’s adorable and playful accessories!

And if steep prices ($79 for a necklace) used to scare you away, be afraid no longer! Most items on the website have been reduced, and you can get awesome necklaces for only $49 a pop! But that’s not it, Locher’s is also having a Menage A Trois promotion. For any 3 necklaces you buy, you get to pick the fourth one for free!

I like them all…but I think the “F*** Off” necklace is my fave! Love the little boy’s pissy face.

Shopping: Boot Hunting

winners boots

It’s quite depressing to think that fall is just around the corner, especially considering that here in Toronto the summer has not even started. But what is exciting about the new season is new clothes! The other day, two pairs of ankle booties caught my eye at H&M. Both very simple, yet the zipper detailing on one and great fit of the other left me wanting new fall boots. And with my European vacation behind me, and NYC and Houston trips coming up, I am left on a pretty tight budget, so the shoes I buy must not only be cute, but also affordable! Above, I threw in a pic of the cool super high-heeled peep toe boots from Winners, and Forever21 boots below. Can you help me decide?

Organic Style: Colorful Office Wear

My usual week, Monday-Friday, is spent in a daily grind, going to the office, grabbing lunches with friends. It doesn’t allow for much outrageous style spotting, but what I do see every day are stylish men and women on their way to their jobs. Today, it’s Victoria and Jen.

 victoria

Name: Victoria

Love Victoria’s incorporation of different shades of green into her outfit. Especially her awesome Zara peep-toe pumps! Just goes to show that red hair and green clothes go together like Jimmy and Choo!

jen

Name: Jen

I spotted Jen waiting in line to get lunch, and her dress immediately caught my eye! Its oh-so-simple cut is spiced up by amazing orange-red color! I might be a little biased in this case, because bright-colored shift dresses are a staple in my office wardrobe. Love!
